Namcot Collection

Namcot Collection, is a 2020 video game compilation published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. Originally released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch, it was later localized for international territories as two separate collections, Namco Museum Archives Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, for the Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. Namcot Collection includes a wide array of video games published by Namco for the Family Computer and Nintendo Entertainment System, with save states, achievements, and homebrew ports of Pac-Man Championship Edition and Gaplus.

This version, the original Japanese release, has some different games from the localized release.

Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei is the first game of the Megami Tensei series of role-playing video games. It is based on the novel Digital Devil Story by Aya Nishitani. Although Atlus has published a majority of the series, the first two games were created by Atlus but published by Namco (known as Namcot at the time), after it bought the video game rights to the Japanese horror novel series by Aya Nishitani, the first named Digital Devil Story. This game is a role-playing video game that features extensive dungeon crawling and focuses heavily on demons, which have gone on to become a trademark of the series.

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei

Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei is a Super Famicom remake made by Atlus of Namco’s original Megami Tensei and Megami Tensei 2 games on the Famicom. It was released in 1995 and was the last game in the Megaten series to be released on the Super Famicom.

Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II

Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II is the sequel to Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei. It was published by Namco in 1990 for the Family Computer and is the second video game in the Megami Tensei series. This is the first game in the series to not be based on the original novels by Aya Nishitani, but it retains much of the gameplay aspects of its predecessor. The music in the game is enhanced by an eight-channel Namco 163 WSG sound chip on the cartridge.

Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Mokushiroku

The game is set in an alternate reality, in which Tokyo is invaded by hordes of demons. You play the role of a young man who lives in an underground shelter and is training to become a demon hunter with help of special programs. One day, during a training, one of the programs goes berserk, and as a result you are thrown into the world where you must fight for your life against vicious demons.

Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Mokushiroku is a non-canonical part of Megaten universe, featuring recurrent setting and story elements of the franchise. Like in classic Shin Megami Tensei games, the largest part of the game is spent in 3D dungeons, which are viewed from first-person perspective. The battle system introduces some unusual elements: enemies are visible before the actual battle begins, and during your dungeon exploration, you will be sometimes attacked from different sides. You will have to turn around to face the enemy in real time, but the game will be paused when you select commands from menu, in a traditional turn-based fashion.

Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei is an action RPG developed by Telenet Japan, based on a manga of the same name. Despite sharing a name and source material with the Atlus developed Famicom game, it is an entirely different game.

The player is tasked with traveling through the Makai, which is divided between eleven worlds themed after the Sephirot. Each of the worlds contains eight floors, though they are not always arranged in ascending order. Each world, other than the starting world Malkuth and the center world Da'at, is further divided into "good" and "evil" versions, for a total of 160 floors.

Megami Tensei

A demake and port of the original Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei by Atlus, released in 2004 for J2ME flip phones by BBMF and Atlus. This port has a lot of simplified mechanics and only 3 of the original dungeons.

Based on Atlus' Persona role-playing game series, Arena serves as a direct sequel to Persona 4 and features characters from its predecessor, Persona 3. Atlus wrote the story to the game while Arc System Works handled the gameplay.

Shin Megami Tensei: Nine

Shin Megami Tensei: Nine was published by Atlus and released on Xbox, exclusively in Japan, in 2002.

Forming part of the Megami Tensei series, Nine takes place in the period of time between Shin Megami Tensei and its sequel, with the survivors of Tokyo's destruction sheltering in underground bunkers. Taking on the role of a debugger, the player navigates the Idea Space virtual world set up by the survivors of Tokyo's destruction, which has come under attack by demonic beings called "noise". The gameplay has the player navigating a customized avatar in third-person through the virtual world of Tokyo, battling enemies using a real-time command-based battle system. Despite its title, it is the eighth game in the Megami Tensei series. The game's title instead refers to the number of possible moral alignments available to players.

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers

Soul Hackers delivers a first-person, dungeon-crawling RPG experience set in a future where technology and otherworldly forces meet in a macabre fusion of cyberpunk futurism and gothic horror. A first-person sci-fi RPG epic, Soul Hackers tells of a city held up as a beacon of humanity's triumph of technology, but with an infernal secret. In this would-be utopia, a group of hackers takes on a centuries-old mystic society, and a battle for control over humanity's fate is about to begin.

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor

Tokyo is in full lockdown, the government's swift, coldblooded response to a surprise demon invasion. Trapped within the sprawling metropolis is the city's helpless populace, forced to turn on each other in order to survive. A mysterious piece of technology, the COMP, falls into the hands of you and your peers. This device allows you to form contracts, forcing demons to serve you in battle against the otherworldly creatures. There are others with COMPs, so-called demon tamers, who seek to use the demons to satisfy their own whims-be they for justice, peace, or power-in the chaos that was once downtown Tokyo. Where did the demons come from? Why did they appear? Who created the COMPs, and what is their purpose? These questions must soon be answered, for if you fail to solve the mystery, much more is at stake than your own lives.
