Hexen II Mission Pack: Portal of Praevus, Raven Software's official follow-up to Hexen II, sends players back to the dark medieval fantasy setting of Thyrion, where a new evil has arisen to fill the void left by Eidolon's death.

Hexen: Beyond Heretic

While you were battling the evil forces of D'Sparil, the other Serpent Riders were busy sowing the seeds of destruction in other dimensions. One such dimension is the decaying world where Hexen takes place. A world littered with the mangled corpses of nonbelievers and inhabited by the undead followers that executed them. Only three humans; a warrior, a mage and a cleric; have escaped the leaders' vicious spell. Now these brave souls have sworn to crush the evil regime that threatens to destroy the world forever. Separated upon entering the mystical portal, the three are forced to attempt on their own what they had hoped to do together: find Korax's stronghold, destroy him and restore order in the physical world.

Heretic

Three brothers, known as the Serpent Riders, have used their powerful magic to possess seven kings of Parthoris into mindless puppets and corrupt their armies. The Sidhe elves resist the Serpent Riders' magic. The Serpent Riders thus declared the Sidhe as heretics and waged war against them. The Sidhe are forced to take a drastic measure to sever the natural power of the kings destroying them and their armies, but at the cost of weakening the elves' power, giving the Serpent riders an advantage to slay the elders. While the Sidhe retreat, one elf, sets off on a quest of vengeance against the weakest of the three Serpent Riders, D'Sparil. He travels through the "City of the Damned", the ruined capital of the Sidhe, then past Hell's Maw and finally the Dome of D'Sparil.

Hexen II

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse lurk in the shadows before you. They are Death, Pestilence, Famine, and War. They are the root of all that is evil. They are the least of your worries. The last know Serpent Rider, Eidolon, lives. As the Necromancer, the Assassin, the Crusader, or the Paladin, you must defeat the dark generals and their Hell-spawned legions before you can face the Archfiend and attempt to end his ravenous onslaught. Go in peace and you will surely die.

Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel

Where HeXen Ends, the True Nightmare Begins. Deathkings of the Dark Citadel is the only official expansion of the original HeXen game. This add-on pack features 20 new single player levels from the original HeXen team as well as a host of new multiplayer options. Deathkings of the Dark Citadel was the first true game expansion that Raven Software ever produced. In addition to providing three new hubs for the original HeXen, the Deathkings expansion was the first multiplayer game that allowed eight players to connect to a LAN simultaneously.

Heretic II

Heretic II is a third-person action game based on the Quake II engine that plunges you into a deep, compelling game combining brutal face-to-face combat and mystery-laden adventure. Gamers travel through complex, richly detailed environments filled with stunning special effects, wicked magic spells, detailed characters, vivid artwork and challenging level designs created by the Raven team and renowned fantasy artist Brom.

The Wayfarer

The Wayfarer is not your grandparents' Heretic. It includes a built-in gameplay mod that rebalances the game in ways that are mostly subtle but make the game a lot more engaging to play. Many enemy attacks are more dangerous, and most of the player's weapons are more powerful, allowing certain weapons to have more useful combat niches and eliminating the grindiness associated with vanilla Heretic's weapon/monster balance. The episode also features two new standard enemies, two new artifacts, a new weapon, plenty of custom decorations and textures, and more.

Curse of D'sparil

Curse of D'Sparil is a 9-level episode released in January 2010, created by Kristian Käll; with the secret level designed by his brother Karl.

Faithless Trilogy

The hellish minions left to wander in the aftermath of Korax's defeat during the battle of Cronos have now scattered across Parthoris looking for fresh meat, and a new realm to call their own. Beings of chaos roam freely, causing disarray in the realm. The citizens of Parthoris have barely had time to rebuild their lives in the wake of D'Sparil's reign of chaos, which was put to an end by a yet-unidentified outsider.

You are Corvus. You have laid low for a while in the dockside town of Port Mercy, and become aware of the situation almost immediately. Portals open in every corner of the town, legions of the damned pouring forth and slaughtering the populace. Stepping out into the pouring rain, you come to a scene of fresh blood dashed against the cobbles, deep red tendrils of it snaking into the gutters, and raging monsters bellowing vicious cries of revenge as the townsfolk meet a gruesome end.

They smell your blood and close in on you. Standing at the foot of the belltower, you brandish your elvenwand and confront the desperate beasts as they converge upon you. The gleam of its topaz gem sends chills of fear down their backs.

Blasphemer

Blasphemer is a project to create a free software/open source Heretic IWAD file. Combined with the free source code, this results in a complete Doom-based game. This is the Heretic equivalent to Freedoom.

Brutal Heretic RPG

This is the continuation of Sergeant Mark IV's Brutal Heretic mod. Well, after been seemingly abandoned for a few years, we have continued Brutal Heretic where Sarge and Seidolon has left off.

IronTusk's Diablo3D

Finally a game that almost feels like the Diablo Series, Town Area's, Gheed (your Favorite merchant), You have skill systems, weapons, chests, useful items, hidden loot that can boost your stats, monsters from diablo 1 and 2, music from diablo 1 and 2, sound effects from diablo 1 and 2, Voices from Cain during intermissions, and map designs that are as close to the original games as possible. Its insane how much work went into this. Special thanks to Void Weaver, Aheretic, Ogden, Hoover1979, Thetis and others for contributing to this master piece. The Realm of Parthoris

The Realm of Parthoris is an episode one replacement for Heretic, created in 2015 by the Doomworld community, led by Jeff King (Egregor). It requires a limit-removing port that also features Heretic support to play. Development began on January 27, 2015, with the aim of creating a full Heretic megawad, but due to a lack of interest from mappers, the project was scaled down to a single episode

Sold Soul

Sold Soul is a full-on Heretic episode with 9 levels and challenging gameplay.
The story is that you play as a merchant with some unnatural powers and skills who have been betrayed and seeking revenge.

Unbeliever

UnBeliever is a three-episode, vanilla Heretic megaWAD where each episode offers a different gameplay experience and are designed to be played in any order. E1 has lots of gimmicky combat scenarios, mostly focused on Heretic's unique gadgets. E2's maps are ultra short and action- packed, built with only 100 linedefs a piece. And E3's trials require quick thinking and quicker reflexes.

Hymn: A Heretic Community Project

Hymn is a Doomworld community project for Heretic. It is a 9 level episode that features custom textures. HYMN should be compatible with most modern Boom and ZDoom related ports, as well as Doomsday, but has an emphasis on 'vanilla' style mapping.

The Iron Forge

The Iron Forge﻿ is a single map for Heretic, created by Xaser (architecture/layout) and me (thing placement). It plays in the E2M1 slot and requires ZDoom/GZDoom.

This map includes a variety of tweaks to Heretic's monsters and weapons to improve the pacing and balance of the game (especially to address that feeling you get when all the monsters are super weak but take forever to kill).

Wadazine Master Collection 04: Heresy or shortly WMC04: Heresy is an eight-level collaborative episode WAD for Heretic designed for GZDoom or K8Vavoom source ports in UDMF format created by various members of The Doom Master Wadazine community led by Alexa Jones-Gonzales (Remilia Scarlet) and co-lead Christian Blair (Endless). It is the fourth entry in the Wadazine Master Collection series.

Serpent's Wake

Choose your path in the Serpent's Wake, an all-new Heretic adventure with three variations of each map. Featuring the quest system: each skill level represents a different way of playing each map. Monsters, items, progression, geometry and more change from quest to quest.

Avatar's Demise

This level oozes atmosphere and plays quite well. It was originaly VERY easy so a lot of vials and other powerups and ammo were removed making it more enjoyable.

Templum Dormiens Dei

A single level for Heretic, which requires ZDoom 2.8.1 or later. This map is meant to follow the events of Dark Deity's Bastion, and serve as an ending to the storyline which began with that level.

Shadowcaster

A 21st century Heretic episode covering many styles of level, both traditional and unusual as well.

Reclamation

An ancient sanctuary has been corrupted by the minions of evil; reclaim the church and make the bastards pay.

Torture

Destroy the beasts controlling an underground dungeon; mutilate them as they have been mutilating your comrades.

Thief: The Trail of the Arch-Heretic

A moody, ambient WAD intended to put some of the feeling of "Thief: the Dark Project" into Heretic. It's a reworking of my own njthief WAD for Doom2.

The Fiery Crater

After you entered the core of the volcano in Fiery Descent, you found yourself in the middle of a smoldering crater on the other side. This map picks up where that one left off, as you journey deeper into it, discovering an ancient fortress built into the side of the lava mountain.

Heretic Upstart Mapping Project

The Heretic Upstart Mapping project was made to get people into mapping for heretic. It includes many maps by people who had never mapped for heretic before, and some older maps that authors had never published.

Heretic Upstart Mapping Project Mini

HUMP mini (short for Heretic Upstart Mapping Project mini) is a 2018 Heretic mappack, an offshoot of Heretic Upstart Mapping Project from the previous year. It was led by HexenMapper, but unlike the preceding effort which was meant for GZDoom, HUMP mini is instead built with vanilla compatibility in mind.

Sosuria

Sosuria is a map made for SOSU's birthday.

Sosuria is a proud, peaceful village on the island of Khshayarsha, full of life and hospitality. That is, until one day an evil sorcerer ransacked the land with his army, taking most of the goods and resources for himself and turning the island into an uninhabitable volcanic landscape. Legend has it that a mythical being of wonder dwells in Sosuria's largest and most prominent building, the Temple of the Ancients. It is said that this creature has the ability to turn back time and undo the evil that was dealt to the village. There is only one way to find out if this is true...

Wrath of the Titans

A complete 9-level episode featuring some new textures and classic Heretic style with attention to Raven's mapping conventions. The set plays on the episode 2 slot. It includes 8 revised editions of ETTiNGRiNDER's prior released ﻿maps to update the visuals and gameplay, plus 1 never before released one (E2M2)

Burial Ground

You've been lost in the forest for days. In the middle of the night you awaken to weird sounds coming from the distance. You douse your campfire and head toward the sounds to investigate. You're greeted by a craggy gate and moonlit headstones. You hear a slight rustling, then the silence is broken by the sound of heavy footsteps coming toward you. Looks like you won't be getting much sleep tonight.

Dark Mountain

A graveyard is being harvested of corpses to create undead warriors. Fight your way into the caverns beneath the mountain to destroy the evil inhabitants.

Desert Crypt

While traveling through a desert region, you are ambushed and knocked unconscious by a group of golems. You wake up to find yourself inside a sarcophagus. You push the lid of off the coffin and climb out. You hear the sounds of stone debris being piled up outside the entrance to the tomb. They are sealing you in. At your feet you notice your crossbow. Whoever has put you in here has tossed your weapon on the tomb floor to be sealed in with you. You force the door open and begin fighting your way out of the crypt...

The Forgotten Portals

You're making your way through an icy region and are nearly crushed when some ice caverns collapse. Eventually you make your way out only to find yourself trapped in a long deserted temple complex. The gates are enchanted and cannot be opened. You decipher an inscription that tells you that you must pass through three portals to remove the barriers that will allow you to leave.

The Indespensible T_DUNNxx.WAD Series : For Heretic

The Indespensible T_DUNNxx.WAD Series - For Heretic is a single-level PWAD for Heretic designed by Travers Dunne and Alister Dunne and released in 1997.

Dark Mountain II

Sequel to "Dark Mountain" (darkmtn.wad). This is a very large level with more detail in many places than the original Heretic engine can handle.

After D'Sparil's defeat, Corvus thought he would be trapped forever. Not long after the decisive battle, Corvus was teleported to an unknown, snow covered region. He gathered what remained of his willpower and began his trek. Lost and Forgotten is a two map release for Heretic's E1M1 and E1M2.

Blasphemous Experiments

Blasphemous experiments is a complete first episode replacement for Heretic, using the Blasphemer texture pack.

The Village of Archensheen

A bite sized Heretic level with the restrictions of no more than 100 enemies, 100 sectors, and 1000 linedefs.

The Remote Outpost

Sarge Baldy's first released Heretic map, to be used as E2M1 of the FreeHeretic project. The overall theme is therefore vaguely similar to the original.

Quoth The Raven

Quoth the Raven is the 28th installment of the Pineapple Under the Sea Speedmapping series, created by BluePineapple72. The event ran during June of 2023, in which maps were created in a time limit of 8 hours or less. Mappers were to create Heretic maps using a custom texture pack and calling back to several of the design tropes from the original Heretic. It contains 3 episodes, with forced secret exits, for a total of 27 maps.

The Mysteries of Underville

The level is direct continuation of the Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, with Corvus stepping through a portal after defeating all Maulotaurs in the fifth episode.

Quest for the Crystal Skulls

Quest for the Crystal Skulls is a new action-packed episode for Heretic.
Corvus is confronted by a Heresiarch, a powerful minion of the Serpent Riders. This dark wizard has stolen three crystal skulls, using their power to open a portal to the underworld in the hopes of bringing about his master's return.
Corvus must collect the remaining six crystal skulls in order to unlock the celestial path and confront the Heresiarch before it's too late.

Masters of Chaos

Three totally new episodes for Heretic - 31 levels, including new graphics, sounds and music. Five new weapons - 13 in all. New deadly enemies, new tricks and traps and much more.

Realms of Dr. Chaos

This is very loosely based on the NES game Dr. Chaos, mainly in its plot about the main character rescuing his brother Dr. Chaos from his own ill-advised forays into inter-dimensional travel. It consists of three maps centered around puzzles and exploration. The player is required to enter various extra-dimensional realms and puzzle out the central goal of each in order to reach a key, switch, or other objective.

Hordes of Chaos X

Hordes of Chaos X is a 25 map compilation of previous Hordes of Chaos 1-4 with an additional episode 5. HoC1 has also been changed into HoC Death Edition featuring double the monsters and less health items.

Dr. Chaos: Shadows of Mars

Mickey Chaos has his hands full once again. His brother Dr. Chaos has taken their sister Didi on an expedition to ancient Mars, back when the planet was teeming with life. Unfortunately the martian locals stole the Flux Accelerator’s five “time batteries”, stranding Didi on an alien planet with no way back home. With only enough juice left for a one-way trip, Mickey now must collect the batteries, repair the Accelerator, and bring Didi back to earth before Mom has a heart attack.

Dark Deity's Bastion

Sitnalta

Sitnalta is a traditional episode long WAD for Heretic that adds 9 new levels that sparsely utilizes ZDOOM features like slopes and 3d floors. It also features a new unique boss that replaces the conventional D'Sparil fight from Episode 3.

Chronologically it takes place between ArgonianLord's first release, Tower of Chaos and its sequel, A New World. But you need not have played ToC to enjoy Sitnalta, as it doesn't feature story and dialogue as much as those two.

Endquest

Endquest is designed to feel like an entire Heretic megawad crammed into an epic single episode! It has been lovingly crafted, is dripping with detail, and has been meticulously balanced and tested.

Yard of the Dead

Call of the Apostate

An Episode 3 replacement for Heretic. The episode is laid out so that levels 1-3 are inspired by E1, levels 4, 9, and 5 by E2, and levels 6-8 by E3. Expect a boss fight every 3rd level.

Gulag

A five-level wad for Heretic, incorporating numerous new graphics. The appearance of each level is quite different; there is no unifying theme except that the action takes place on a series of islands.

Five new levels for Heretic built in the Hpack mindset: a bit of custom content, custom monsters, and new powerups!

Heretic Amplified

This is a new episode for Heretic based on the idea that the D'Speril that was killed was not the real D'Speril, so you now have to find your way through his realm and slay him once and for all with new Weapons, Enemies, and Items.

Emerald Bathhouse

A Small-Medium sized level for vanilla Heretic that replaces E3M1.

New Dungeons

A very big map for Heretic with plenty of monsters that can give you some challenge.

Town of Aquafort

The entry level that was supposed to be part of an episode. Due to lack of time SFoZ911 decided to release it as a standalone to see if the design and gameplay are worth something.

The Seven Chambers

This is an _incredibly_ immense level, with seven main areas. It has a good range of difficulties, and much time was spent on the design.

Ichor: Blood of the Gods

You thought carnage.wad was hard, well this new one makes it look easy. Not only is it much harder, but it is HUGE. It is nine levels covering the entire Dome of D'Sparil episode.

Hall of the Saint

You came into this place and then there were these monsters and you grabbed some weapons and bombs and you also read some magic books and throwed some eggs and killed the monsters with the stuff and magic and then you found the exit and went on your way.

The Gayest & Greyest Castle In All Of Parthoris

A medium-sized Heretic map (127 monsters on smite-meister difficulty) with extra textures/props and a few monsters imported from Hexen (the Centaur, Stalker, & Wendigo).

Clucking Dubbed to Feathers

Clucking Dubbed to Feath(ers) is a tiny Heretic speedmap I made after realizing that when a player gets shot by a morph ovum (egg) while already a chicken, they will become a super chicken, circumventing the need to kill a player as a chicken to do so.

D'Spirali Hideout

A 40-60 minutes level for almost vanilla setting of Heretic.

Pantheon of War

3 maps for heretic with the themes being temple with water, caves with Lava and underground temple.
