Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain

Blood Omen 2, the second instalment in the Legacy of Kain Series, is a 3rd person 3D action/combat game in which you assume the role of the vampire Kain. A compelling story takes you through huge, lushly detailed 3D environments and challenges your skills in combat, puzzle solving, stealth and exploration. With each success, you’ll gain new dark gifts that will grant Kain the ability to access treacherous new areas to explore and the power to face stronger, more aggressive enemies. As you develop a stronger, more skilled vampire, you’ll be rewarded with dozens of dazzling in-game cinematic sequences that unfold the continuing epic of Nosgoth, and Kain’s attempts to ultimately rule over it.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Un juego de acción y aventura en tercera persona en el que, tras los sucesos de Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain (1996), Kain ha creado un imperio vampírico en el mundo de Nosgoth. Uno de los hijos y subordinados de Kain, Raziel, es deshonrado y desterrado por un Kain celoso tras superarlo al desarrollar alas, y despierta siglos después en una forma corrupta para vengarse de quienes fueron sus hermanos.

Nosgoth

Nosgoth was a free-to-play multiplayer action game, developed by Psyonix and published by Square Enix for Microsoft Windows through digital distribution. It was a spin-off from the Legacy of Kain series of action-adventure games, and took place in its eponymous fictional universe. Nosgoth employed a player versus player system in which each match consisted of two rounds. Teams were composed of characters assigned to one of two races: vampires, designed around hack and slash combat; and humans, whose gameplay was styled after third-person shooters. Between rounds, teams would switch to control the opposing race, and the team which accumulated the most points by fighting their counterparts won the match.

Initially announced in June 2013 following internet leaks, Nosgoth was the first Legacy of Kain-associated game to debut in almost ten years, preceded by 2003's Legacy of Kain: Defiance. Though once intended for release as part of a single-player project, Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun, it was reconceptualized and continued development as a standalone title following Dead Sun's cancellation. When officially revealed in September 2013, Nosgoth attracted negative reception for its conceptual departure from the traditional single-player and story-driven Legacy of Kain formula. Initially beginning its closed alpha and opening up its servers to registered players in late 2013, the game's open beta began in January 2015 and ended in May 2016.

On April 8, 2016, Square Enix Europe announced that Nosgoth's servers would shut down on May 31, 2016. Nosgoth's official forums also shut down on June 14, 2016.

Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2

Soul Reaver 2 picks up where Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver left off, with Raziel having just plunged through the Chronoplast time portal in his relentless pursuit of Kain. Over the course of his quest for revenge, Raziel must unearth the mysteries of Nosgoth’s ancient races, expose the machinations behind the corruption of the Pillars, and the vampire genocide. Throughout the game, Raziel acquires numerous new abilities, weapon enhancements, and spells, all of which are critical to the completion of his epic adventure.

Soul Reaver is a third-person combat adventure filled with devious puzzles and kick-ass combat. Fly, swim, jump, and even travel from the material world to the spectral realm to overcome obstacles and conquer your enemies. With over 40 abilities to choose from, no two fights will ever be the same.

Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy

Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy was a cancelled Legacy of Kain game – the planned sixth title in the series, and sequel to Legacy of Kain: Defiance. It entered development at Ritual Entertainment in 2004, with consultancy from Crystal Dynamics, but production ended for unknown reasons after three to six months of work. The project was never officially announced by publisher Eidos Interactive, but its existence has been acknowledged by Crystal Dynamics' Chris Bruno and Daniel Cabuco, and by several artists formerly employed at Ritual Entertainment.

Evidence of Legacy of Kain: The Dark Prophecy's development was largely publicized by Legacy of Kain fan and community member, Divine Shadow, between 2008 and 2012, in the form of screenshots of Malek's Bastion in the Legacy of Kain: Defiance engine, and concept art of the pre-banishment Hylden. Kain was to feature as the main character in the game, much of which would take place in the Demon Realm, and would further the storyline surrounding the Hylden, the Hylden Lord, and Janos Audron. Targeted platforms included the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and Microsoft Windows.

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun

Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun was a cancelled action-adventure video game developed by Climax Studios for Square Enix Europe, with an accompanying multiplayer component developed separately by Psyonix. Leaks described Dead Sun as a story-based action-adventure inspired by Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver (1999) (the second installment in the series) and Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda. The game featured an open world, and combined cinematic, violent combat with dungeon crawls, puzzles, and boss encounters. Links to past Legacy of Kain entries figured into the design, such as the shifting mechanic of the Soul Reaver titles, which enabled players to alternate between two planes of existence.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain

A port of the classic PS1 action-adventure title, Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, enhanced with up-rendering, rewind, quick save, and custom video filters.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is a dark fantasy action-adventure game set in a vampire-ruled kingdom shaped by murder, magic, and revenge.

The game features extensive voice acting, dynamic lighting, and over 25 minutes of full-motion video sequences. Its narrative-driven structure supports exploration across a large game world, with a focus on combat, spell use, and progression over a lengthy single-player experience.

This is an emulation of the classic PS2 action-adventure title, Blood Omen 2: Legacy of Kain. Chronologically, this takes place in an alternate timeline, between the events of Blood Omen and Soul Reaver, and lets players experience Kain's epic adventure on PS4 and PS5 for the first time.

Hack and slash/Beat 'em up

Ritual Entertainment was an American video game developer established in 1996 by Robert Atkins, Mark Dochtermann, Jim Dosé, Richard 'Levelord' Gray, Michael Hadwin, Harry Miller, and Tom Mustaine. Based in Dallas, Texas, Ritual Entertainment was formerly known as Hipnotic Interactive, during which period they began development of their signature video game SiN.

Members of the Ritual Entertainment development team have contributed assets to other games such as American McGee's Alice, Medal of Honor: Airborne, Tomb Raider: Legend, and 25 to Life, and are also the creators of "Übertools" for id Tech 3, which has been licensed for a number of other games.

On January 24, 2007, developer MumboJumbo announced the acquisition of Ritual Entertainment.[3] With this acquisition, Ritual's focus on traditional action-oriented games was changed to casual games, essentially "stalling" Ritual's latest game series, SiN Episodes, after releasing only one episode out of a planned nine.

The purchase followed months of departures of several key employees, including chief executive officer Steve Nix, who became director of business development at id Software, vice president and co-founder Tom Mustaine, who left to found Escalation Studios. Several months after the acquisition, community relations manager Steve Hessel left the company to join Splash Damage.

Prior to the announcement, on December 6, 2006, Ritual announced the appointment of Ken Harward as the company's new studio director.[6]

Following the company's closure, many of the deveopers have left to other companies such as id Software, Gearbox Software, Nerve Software, Escalation Studios, and the now-defunct Paradigm Entertainment.

Now called Square Enix Europe. The company was founded as Domark in 1984 by Mark Strachan and Dominic Wheatley. In 1995, the company was acquired by Eidos and was merged with two other studios and renamed Eidos Interactive the following year. Eidos was in turn acquired by SCi in 2005, and Eidos Interactive was sold to Square Enix in 2009. On 9 November 2009, Square Enix completed the merger of its existing European branch with Eidos Interactive, renaming the resulting company Square Enix Europe. With the consolidation of Square Enix's Western divisions around 2015, Square Enix Ltd. and Square Enix Inc. are collectively referred to as Square Enix West.
