Team Fortress 2: Death & Taxes

The Death & Taxes update, was the first major update for Team Fortress 2 Classic.

The update focused on cut content from Team Fortress 2. Its flagship feature is the VIP game mode, in which BLU team must escort the new Civilian class to the end of the map, while RED team has to assassinate him. To highlight this new game mode, three VIP maps were included: Trainyard with a single capture point and a one-life VIP, Mineside with a VIP-exclusive briefcase that must be delivered to unlock the capture point, Harbor with three capture points and no special gimmicks, and a VIP version of Badwater Basin with four capture points (later reduced to three) and a nighttime atmosphere.

Another major feature was the addition of Four-Team mode, shattering the previous paradigm of RED and BLU by introducing GRN and YLW. The new Four-Team maps were the Arena map Flask, and a Domination version of Hydro - which itself is a new game mode, with Oil Canyon as a two-team exemplar. The update also brought back 9 new weapons based on unreleased Team Fortress 2 content, as well as 6 weapons and 31 maps that already exist in TF2.

In addition, most mechanics were rebalanced based on Team Fortress 2 updates, and the vast majority of the game was refactored in design, interface, and content. The prior "deathmatch" game mode was removed entirely, as well as numerous weapon concepts and aesthetic choices. Finally, the update also included improved bot support for offline play, a new achievement system, nametag medals for developers, contributors, and beta testers, and many, many exclusive settings, console commands, and weapon attributes.

Team Fortress 2 Classic: Fight or Flight

The Fight or Flight update, was the second major update for Team Fortress 2 Classic.

True to its namesake, it focused on content related to mobility, as well as several weapons and maps. Its flagship feature is the Jump Pad, an Engineer building that allows taking to the skies. The Anti-Aircraft Cannon was designed for Heavy to swat enemies out of the air, while the Twin Barrel affords Pyro greater mobility. The Brick gives Scout a hard-hitting projectile, while the Heavy gains Chekhov's Punch and the Pyro gains the Harvester - both weapons that store critical hits for later. Finally, L'escampette gives the Spy an alternate watch, allowing for easier escapes.

The update also introduces the Arena map Floodgate, the Four-Team King of the Hill map Frigid, the Payload map Jinn, the Four-Team Medieval Mode map Krepost, and the new Territorial Domination game mode with the map Caper.

Peggle Extreme delivers fast-paced puzzle action that combines elements of pinball and pachinko to create a truly unique game experience. As with the original Peggle, Peggle Extreme requires players to fire a metallic silver ball from the top of the screen, relying on gravity to propel the ball downwards while ricocheting off orange and blue "pegs". The goal is to clear all the orange pegs from the screen before running out of balls. A moving "bucket" at the bottom of the screen offers free balls, while green power-up and purple "bonus multiplier" pegs provide additional twists. Peggle Extreme features one power-up in the form of Bjorn the Unicorn, whose special takes the form of a "super-guide" sighting capability which enables players to see where there next shot will go beyond one or two initial bounces.

Team Fortress

Team Fortress (TF) is a team- and class-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game mod based on id Software's Quake Engine, and later QuakeWorld Engine. Team Fortress, also known as Quake Team Fortress (QTF), and later QuakeWorld Team Fortress (QWTF), was designed and written by Robin "Bro" Walker, John "Jojie" Cook, and Ian "Scuba" Caughley in 1996. Because of its popularity, it has spawned an endless amount of mods for not only Team Fortress, but other games as well. Valve took an interest in the Team Fortress Software organization and hired the three creators to work on a Team Fortress Half-Life mod, and later a standalone version called Team Fortress Classic (TFC), released in 1999. A standalone sequel to Team Fortress Classic, Team Fortress 2 (TF2), was developed by Valve and released in 2007.
